Dear Parents and Carers

A huge well done to our students and staff for how well they have managed this first full week back in school, responding so well to our new routines and systems.

We are constantly receiving updated guidance, as I am sure you can imagine, and in light of this, we have reviewed our procedures after a week with the whole school back and would like to give you a few updates.

Face Coverings
To keep staff and students safe and to avoid school closure as from Monday 21 September all staff and students are to wear masks in communal areas e.g. corridors. They may still be worn in class but everyone must now wear one in the corridors and other communal areas.

Students will be reminded of the correct way to put on/remove face masks and storing them in a bag/box to keep them clean. We will keep spare masks and bags too if required.

Car Parks
Thank you for your cooperation re: dropping off and safe parking to make the beginning and end of the school day go smoothly.

Travel to and from school
Please do encourage your child to safely walk to and from school as much as possible.

Bikes
Many students are cycling to school which is great to see.  Please remind them to wear a helmet, travel safely and bring a lock to secure their bike.  We will shortly be introducing a permit scheme to have a database of those students with a bike.

Scooters
An electric scooter is powered partly by a battery motor and is therefore classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicle (PLEV) by the Department for Transport (DfT), making it illegal to use on UK roads and pavements.  Although the law has changed regarding hired electric scooters, privately owned scooters are currently not road legal and we cannot allow students to ride them to school.

After school
Please do also remind your children that after school they must go home safely and not congregate in groups and to remember the rules on social distancing.

Junior schools
Students must also not congregate at the Primary Schools for the same reason.

Communications
We will continue to keep you updated and informed of any changes by email and via our website.

Tutors/Leaders of Year
The main point of contact for your child is via their Tutor.  If you have any questions or queries regarding your child, please contact the Tutor in the first instance.  All email addresses can be found on our website.

Leaders of Year

Year 7 – Mrs R Tibbetts – email – rtibbetts@bourne.org.uk
Year 8 and Year 10 – Mrs H Jewer – email hjewer@bourne.org.uk
Year 9 – Mr M Carter – email – mcarter@bourne.org.uk
Year 11 – Mr N Griggs – email – ngriggs@bourne.org.uk

Please allow 48 hours for a reply.

I regret that we are unable to hold meetings in school at present and will do our best to contact you for any issues.

We are all working together for the whole community and thank you in advance for your support.  Our main aim is to keep the school open safely for all students and staff.

Wishing you a restful weekend.
