WorthLess? Urgent update – 1 February 2016

• A meeting with the Department for Education has been secured
• Evidence is needed to show the strength of support for the campaign – we need every supporter to ‘like’ our latest social media post

Dear parent / carer,

Thanks to the work of local MPs and because of everyone’s support, we are pleased to inform you that a meeting with ministers from the Department for Education (DfE) will take place on Monday 8 February.

The meeting will allow headteacher representatives, local MPs and WSCC to make the case for improved funding for all of our pupils’ future education. The importance of a fairer long term funding formula and the urgent need for interim funding for 2016/17 will be stated.

Whilst a meeting with the DfE is to be welcomed it will only mean something if we get a positive outcome.

At this point we really need your help. In order to show the strength of feeling across the county we need to have persuasive evidence. Whist we can formally state our case next week, we also need to show the depth of your support.

When we started the Worth Less? campaign, Facebook ‘likes’ went off the scale in just two or three days. We want to see this happen again for our latest message.

Even if you have ‘liked’ the Worth Less? Facebook page already, we urgently need you to ‘like’ our latest post now and then encourage every single person that you know to do the same. It could make a real difference to what is probably the most important meeting there has been relating to your child’s education in a decade.

The meeting with the DfE is in just a week’s time, so if you can ‘like’ this icon straightaway it will really help. Our children and pupils are ‘Worth It’

The post says: “Thank you for starting to review the unfair national funding formula but our children and schools need financial support now. Please provide meaningful interim funding for all schools in West Sussex from April 2016.”
