Dear Parents and Carers

As we near the end of the school year, and I near the end of my time as headteacher, I can reflect on a fantastic year for the students and staff of Bourne Community College.

Our Year 11 students are on course to break school records with their exam results, our status as a securely ‘Good’ school which is moving towards ‘Outstanding’ was recognised in the very recent Ofsted inspection report, our work as a Rights Respecting School continues as we aim to get Level 2 accreditation, our Charity Group have run events throughout the year which have raised many thousands of pounds for local, national and international charities and we have continued to strengthen links with other schools both at home and abroad. I am extremely proud of all that we have achieved working together this year.

May I thank you for your support in maintaining our excellent uniform standards. We believe that perfect uniform promotes positive attitudes to learning and ensures that teachers and students can concentrate on learning without distractions. In this vein, I will make the usual plea regarding uniform purchases which you may make over the summer break. If in doubt please check the school web-site which has a complete list of uniform and appearance expectations;

The summer term will end at 12:00 noon on Friday 22nd July with buses leaving at 12:15. I hope that you will all have a glorious summer break and come back refreshed and ready to learn on Tuesday 6th September 2016.

Finally I would like to say that I am delighted to be handing over the leadership of the school to Mrs Yvonne Watkins, who I have worked closely with for the last 4 years, I wish her all the very best for her own headship. I know that she will enjoy your full support as I have done.

Kind regards

Simon Liley
