Key
Stage 3 targets will be set at the start of each year. A teacher
assessment of performance will be made at the end of each year,
with a final KS3 level attained provided after the SAT results are
published in the summer term of Year 9.

Video
Conferencing - Science Department
|
- Interschool INSET
links to promote video conferencing within the Chichester Area,
facilitating INSET for other schools who are trying to get
started.
- (Two) Weekly International slots with schools: Finland, to
promote Science links, run projects and develop cultural
understanding.
- Video conferencing with Science Museum, London. Topic of Space,
where pupils discuss with an "Astronaut" issues with space
exploration, Apollo missions and anything linked to the science of
space. Each session is tuned into year group, ability and the
Science National Curriculum. Provides considerable enrichment to
lessons, injecting "awe and wonder"
- Primary liaison with 4 local schools where students conference
with junior pupils to encourage and enhance learning in both
1o and 2o school. |
|
|
|
- Students have
had opportunity to talk directly to students with different
experiences, particularly in terms of culture and traditions. They
have also seen how many similarities there are in their daily life
( for example, the Finnish students supported Liverpool in the
European football final.
- We are exploring the opportunities for joint science projects to
compare studies of our local environment and ecology. This will
involve students developing their presentational skills through the
video link.
- Intercontinental links are on the way with excellent sessions
with Canada (Royal Botanical Society) and Universities in the
USA |

KS3
& KS4 Development: Express Group in Science
|
This year has seen the
development of an Express group in science. The aim to allow this
group to cover KS3 in 2 years, so taking Key Stage 3 SATS a year
early!
The following 2 years (9 and 10) are taken up with Core and
Additional science GCSE leaving Year 11 see pupils
