Business Studies

The course leads to a BTEC First Award in Business and is equivalent to 1 GCSE at grade A*-C (level 2) OR GCSE grade D-G (Level 1) and is a popular Key Stage 4 Pathways choice for students to study in Year 10 and 11.

Assessment
Units 1, 3 and 5 are internally assessed through Assignment tasks that students complete as part of the course. Each sub unit has an assignment to be completed that demonstrates an understanding of the learning outcomes. These are done within class time and as out of class activities.
Unit 2 is externally tested and each student will sit an on-screen assessment.

Grading
Level 1 Pass Equivalent to a GCSE D grade
Level 2 Pass Equivalent to a GCSE C grade
Level 2 Merit Equivalent to a GCSE B grade
Level 2 Distinction Equivalent to a GCSE A grade
To achieve at least a Level 1 Pass in Business students must achieve at least a Pass in every unit.
