Deputy Canteen Manager

The Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard working Deputy Canteen Manager to work with our 5 in-house Kitchen staff.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in a catering environment, preferably in a school.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
• Assisting the Catering Manager in the supervision of all catering staff
• Assisting the Catering Manager in the preparation, service and cleaning of the kitchen
• Deputising for the Catering Manager in her absence


Hours: 22.5 per week, 9.30 am to 2 pm, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break; term time only, plus INSET Days

Salary: WSCC Grade 3 (£7033 per annum)

STAFF VACANCIES

Cygnet Catering, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, are opening a new production kitchen, which will be based at Bourne Community College. This kitchen will be run independently from the College’s Catering Services which will continue to be operated by the College. Cygnet’s new Production Kitchen will open in April to provide a hot meal service to a number of primary schools in the area. We are therefore seeking to recruit the following catering staff for term time only positions: 

  • Production Kitchen Supervisor/Manager 35 – 40 hours per week. Duties include operation of the production kitchen providing hot and cold meals of a high standard to schools within the local area, through a variety of services; supervising a small team including delivery drivers. 
  • Kitchen General Assistants, various positions of 20-30 hours per week available. Duties include assisting Manager in the preparation and cooking of meals; picking and packing hot and cold food, basic food preparation and general kitchen duties. 
  • Meal Delivery Drivers, various positions, up to 8 hours per day. Duties include delivery of hot and cold food and service equipment to schools. Full driving licence required.

The one year course is based at The Bourne Community College, Bognor Regis Campus of the University and in two local schools.
