Behaviour Policy for
home to school travelling
The way
Bourne students behave when travelling to and from, and on College
related business says a lot about the students, their families and
the College.
This
Policy is about ensuring students know and understand how to behave
in a way that brings credit to themselves, their families and the
College.
This
Policy should be read alongside any code of behaviour issued by the
County Council.
When
travelling to and from the College and on College business the
normal College rules apply. Students should:
- wear the
correct College uniform
- avoid physical and verbal aggression and swearing
- no smoking
- put litter in bins
- no spitting
- avoid any unpleasantness or bullying of others
Students
should always report any problems to the driver of the bus/train,
or a Police Officer. Students need to report poor behaviour or
bullying to College staff either personally, via our anti-bullying
text time or to peer mediators/prefects.
Remember
everyone has a right to travel safely. However, with that right
comes the responsibility to behave well so that he/she and everyone
else is safe.
Our
prefects and peer mediators are our ‘eyes and ears’ on school
journeys and will report poor behaviour or bullying to staff at the
College.
Travelling by foot or
cycle
Students
should:-
1 Use
approved footpaths and roads only. Short cuts through private
property should not be used.
2 Follow the Highway Code.
3 Make sure your bicycle is roadworthy and has the correct
lights.
4 Wear a cycle helmet.
5 Avoid cycling in large groups.
6 Avoid walking in large groups which others may find
threatening.
Travelling by Bus or
Train
1
Students should wait for bus or trains in an orderly manner without
disturbing others.
2 Take care when getting on and off vehicles.
3 Sit one person per seat and remain seated throughout the
journey.
4 Shouting or disturbing the driver is not permitted.
5 No throwing anything inside the vehicle or out of windows.
6 Rudeness and intimidation towards other students, staff or
passengers is not permitted. Other passengers need to be able to
travel without fear of bullying.
The
College’s response to students who fail to observe this
Policy
1 All
misconduct will be investigated and appropriate action taken which
may include:-

College
- involvement of the
Police and/or British Transport Police

2
